Are You Silently Killing Your Dog By Choosing The Wrong Dog Food? By: Joshua Hacken

There are a lot of different kinds of dog foods available on the market today. Which one should you feed your dog with while ensuring that your dog stays healthy? It is our responsibility as dog owners to see that our dogs consume proportionate meals.

By carefully reading the label on the dog food, you'll be able to choose the best dog food for your dog. Remember to cautiously read every single line.

The label on a bag of dog food will list the ingredients from greatest weight to least. This is important to know because you will learn what components are present in the food in their specific amounts.

- If the first ingredient is whole meat of any kind, don't accept it as this measurement is taken before the meat is rendered.

- Animal by-products present in dog food indicate a cheap low quality food.

- Watch for the moisture intensity: whenever it is above 11, the dry matter basis is said to be of poor quality.

Things to watch out for:

- A good sign is to have chicken or beef meal listed as the first ingredient, instead of whole meat listed as the first ingredient. If this is the case, then the dog food would contain more protein.

- One great thing about premier dog foods is that they don't contain any animal by-products.

- An ideal dog food should contain at most 10% moisture. Premium dog foods usually fall into this category.

The difference between chicken meal and chicken is that chicken meal means that it has been cooked to destroy bacteria, while chicken is just pure chicken.

A very large part of a chicken's weight is water. If the label says chicken is 60%, be careful. This is because this number is before the chicken is cooked to kill bacteria and other unwanted substances.

Nevertheless, when the label states 60% chicken meal, then you're the one an advantage because the chicken has already been cooked to destroy bacteria.

With a huge number of dog food choices available in the market today, you have to know what the ingredients in the dog food are in order to feed your dog with a healthy well-balanced diet.

Make sure that your dog is eating health dog food with good ingredients at all times. Failure to do this can result in the poor health-being of your dog. He might become sick, or if the problem extends over a long period of time, he may even die.

Although you may save some money by going for inferior quality dog food, believe me when I say that you and your dog will suffer in the end if you choose to do it this way. My advice to you is give your beloved the dog only the best dog food.
