Is Shih Tzu Puppy Training Genuinely A Piece Of Cake For The New But Nervous Dog Parent! By: Lulagay Holland

It has been thought time and again that Shih Tzu puppies are extremely quick. The most principal thing for them is to delight their owners, so they are enormously aware of their achievement and failures in terms of instruction. On the downside, this unique breed of dog is, well - all over the place and sidetracked at the drop of a hat until they are over 2 months old. You can initiate training most dogs right away, but you have to hold your horses until your Shih Tzu dog is 10 to 12 weeks old before initiating any serious training.

You will need to put into effect patience with your Shih Tzu puppy because they get especially wound-up and when you unite that with seemingly nonexistent bladder control...well you get the picture. Due to their bladder control issues, it is best to 1) keep them confined to newspaper areas and 2) make sure they are on a suitable schedule for drinking and eating. When you discover they are urinating or defecating at usual times of the day then it is time to embark on their potty training. Puppies are not much dissimilar from people as they will want to go do there business when they wake up and most likely about fifteen minutes after they eat in the morning. Do not try and control when they go by only giving them water twice a day. Your developing doggie needs a gracious amount of water throughout the day. When it comes to feeding your dog you will want to feed them early in the morning when they get up and a few hours before they go to sleep for the night.

As we talked about earlier, Shih Tzu puppies are very highly strung and fun-loving so you will have to spend quality time in there first few weeks a life; translation - lots of play time! While this may not seem like training, it does serve to establish a bond between you and your pet. When you designate where your puppy can go in the home they begin to appreciate their subordinate role and your role of pack leader. Since your doggie knows you are the leader, he will obey you when you give commands and will be delighted to please you. When you do start training, steer clear of pessimistic feedback. Again, your Shih Tzu is very sensitive to your wishes and displeasing you can cause them a big deal of heartache.

If your dog does something you can be proud of, make a big deal out of it. A simple but resolved "no" should be adequate when they do something erroneous. If you want to be more creative, startling your puppy does work wonders. This should stop them from doing what they are doing and you can lead them to doing it somewhere more fitting.
