Kids of the world, you can be the voice for endangered species!

Hi parents. If you stumble onto this blog, this is for your precious child to read with you. Hello to you kids of the world! I'm writing this letter to all of you that care about endangered wildlife. What's that? You know, the ones like lions, rhinos, and cheetahs, and yes, even frogs.

But I want to talk specifically today about one animal; it's the polar bears of the Arctic. A very important issue for the polar bear hangs in a fragile balance. And the bears need something to tip that scale in their favor. They need you. You see, what I've read is the polar bear is not fully protected as an endangered animal. Why? Well, it's not that complicated. There's oil in that cold place called the Arctic. And they need to be fully protected as an endangered specie. Have your parents explain.

Other choices to drilling, how about wind?

Here's the deal. President Obama is all for helping our Earth with clean air, and fresh water, and we have to let him know that drilling cannot happen. They need their home. And they need lots of space. You see, there are some cool alternatives to drilling. We just have to believe we can. Because there is wind power! Just look at the picture! This could definitely create some electricity.

I have also read that the entire United States can be run by wind power if those machines were put to use in three windy states. It's great when you use thing like wind and solar. This is what is known as a renewable resource. Look at the size of this wind prop!
Precious parents, show this book to your kids. It tosses some humor in for the bears!

Running our country with solar power
Germany has solar panels that go right alongside of their freeways. I have an idea. How about putting solar panels along our freeways from California to Boston! That would be the green thing to do. And I also read that our great country could be powered by if one hundred fifty miles of solar was put up. Parents, you can read about it and share with them.

So you can see that our country has other choices to oil in the Arctic. We just cannot have any more oil spills up there. After all, this is the polar bears only home. And we need to respect their space, all thirty million acres of it. That is, if they are going to keep living on our precious earth. Yes, this is a very important decision for the polar bear indeed. That's why I think this animal needs your help.

What would you say kids if you had the chance to write our President? Well, you can! I do a lot. You can write and say how you feel. Just add your message right at the top of the letter. Just put it in your own words.

Share how you feel, an how you are "for" the polar bear to be listed fully as endangered species. Your Parents can help you with this. Who knows, you could be the one letter that tips the scale.

They will learn about keystone species and why their important. The first keystone species I learned about was the Southern Cassowary, a one hundred fifty pound flightless bird!
