Snake Venom For Arthritis By: Amy Clark

Dr. Nafthali Primor, R&D (Research and Development) Manager of Shulov Institute for Sciences was the first to suggest the venom of snakes as an efficient natural method to relieve arthritis pain.
Primor and his R&D team have found some potent chemicals in the venom of diverse species of vipers, rattle snakes, and cobras. Such chemicals are powerful analgesics for chronic pain caused by several diseases, including cancer and especially arthritis which predominantly triggers excruciating pain.
History of Snake Venom Use
Although Primor’s research was the first official statement of the curative properties of snake venom, this concept has been known through time. Long before Dr. Nafthali Primor published his study, there were already cases of people being cured of arthritis through snake bites.

The earliest publicized case was that of a 66-year-old Englishman afflicted by chronic arthritis. Accidentally getting bitten by a snake, he informed the BBC news channel in 2002 that his finger joint pain was completely gone at least three to four weeks subsequent to getting bitten. Unfortunately, the pain returned soon after, first appearing in mild amounts for 2 months, then coming back in full force in the following months. Not surprisingly, the snake bite mystery piqued the interest of a number of individuals at that time.

Snake Venom and Dr. Primor

When he was younger, Primor already confessed to a certain attraction to snakes. He quickly became involved with the study of the curative properties of snake venom. This is perhaps why he was meant to eventually discover snake venom remedies for arthritis.
In the 80s, Dr. Shulov told Dr. Primor that Russians have been using venom creams to treat aches and pains. This knowledge inspired Nafthali Primor to take the concept further with scientific research.
Arthritis Treatment with Snake Venom
The original snake venom analgesic developed was the VeP-3, which was derived from the venom of Palestinian Vipers. Primor reported that of the thousands of molecules present in the snake venom, just four to five molecules are in fact venomous. This indicates that at least 99% of the venom is non-poisonous and consequently can be harvested for a variety of curative opportunities.

Dr. Nafthali Primor now aims to complete a snake venom pain relief salve to specifically treat arthritis pain. He cites as a key example a “super aspirin” product developed by Merck & Company called “Aggrastat”, which has been proven to prevent heart attacks and blood clots. This “super aspirin” is also based on snake venom.
Currently, snake venom arthritis methods have infinite possibilities. Studies still develop methods through which snake venom can be safely and effectively used for a variety of healing potentials. Scientific studies also aim to develop a potent cream that will completely eliminate arthritis. For the meantime, while the world waits for further advances in snake venom use, please take care not to experiment with your body by trying to get bitten by snakes.
